The 2016 breeding season already casts its shadows, and with it the foals bred in 2015. We thank our breeders for their confidence in our stallions, and we are looking forward together to the next crop of foals. Let us take a brief look at the successes of our stallions in 2015.
Our stallion station celebrated its 2015 newcomer of the year, the only three-year-old Arango by Apache x Fidermark. Steffi presented the young stallion in three young horse development classes, and he convincingly won all three tests. Arango is Steffi’s most promising partner for future challenges and demanding championships, and he will again be reasonably shown at competitions in 2016. Arango was already bred to an impressive number of mares in 2015, and we are looking forward with excitement to his first crop of foals on the ground.
The successfully competing thoroughbred stallion Asagao xx celebrated an amazing breeding debut with his first crop of foals born in 2015. From a manageable dozen of progeny with most different bloodlines, he presented three winners in pure warmblood classes. It is certainly an incredible performance if halfbred foals with a show jumping background shine among warmblood companions, descending from dressage bloodlines – such a brilliant performance is hard to achieve for a thoroughbred stallion in the warmblood breed. The recognition breeders showed in Asagao xx gave us plenty of reasons to rejoice. It was the first time that the appealing thoroughbred was that frequently used in breeding, and we are looking forward with you to a number of extraordinary halfbred foals next spring.
2015 was also the year of Rocky Lee. His son Revolution was the most expensive licensed young stallion ever at the Verden Stallion Licensing, and he almost turned this event in autumn upside down! 1.2 million Euro are a convincing reason for joy. The most honest and desirable success for this youngster, however, is certainly the great recognition he earned during all three days of the event. “No show horse, but a true athlete!” This was the general overall comment. Since that event, everybody talks about his sire Rocky Lee! This year, he immediately succeeded in entering the top ten of the German breed value estimation as one of the youngest stallions ever with a dressage breed value of 151 points. Ridden by Steffi Wolf and under the wings of Johann Hinnemann, Rocky Lee has achieved a number of other successes and is now about to start his Grand Prix-career.
It was also an exciting year for Sorento OLD. 72 placements at the advanced dressage level including 17 victories – this is the impressive balance of our star stallion when it comes to competition results. 46 of these victories and placements were achieved in Grand Prix-tests, a fact that underlines that Sorento OLD is one of the most successful sons of Sandro Hit who is every year anew in the focus of breeding. This summer, his daughter Sonett was nominated Westphalian champion of four-year-old riding horses in Münster-Handorf. And Sorento OLD created a sensation in Denmark in July, too, when he presented the Champion of six-year-old dressage horses and – on the maternal side of the pedigree – also the four-year-old riding horse champion. Sorento OLD shined again with another Premium stallion at the Westphalian main stallion licensing in autumn after his son Sonnentanz had already been honoured with the popular prize in 2014.

The consequent further advancement of our high-quality stallion collection is one of our top priorities and in the focus of the daily work of Riding Master Johann Hinnemann and his committed team. The many victories and successes of our team deliver convincing proof of their fantastic work. Master of Equine Management Steffi Wolf, Martin Pfeiffer and Marina Welbers ensure that our motto “Stallions have to confirm their qualities in sport!” is and stays main concern of our daily work. As an additional service of our station, it is possible to have Bettina Hinnemann taken care of your mares at Krüsterhof or in accessible distance at your home.
In strong trust in our successful concept, we wish you, dear breeders, a successful 2016 breeding season!
